In his Friday singles action, Rainer will face Lleyton Hewitt - who overcame Thomas Johansson 76(6) 76(3) today. Their quarterfinal match is the second of the day, play begins at 11am. Rainer Rids Radek
Schuettler today defeated Radek Stepanek in the 2nd round by the score of 63 64 and next takes on the Hewitt/Johansson winner in the quarterfinals. Rainer Schuettler is back in action today as he participates in the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament. He hits the court on Day 1 as he plays Monday's second night match (first begins at 7:30) on Centre Court against Stefan Koubek. Schuettler is 2-3 lifetime against the Austrian, winning their first and last meetings. In total, here are their results: 2003 Cincinnati R64 62 75, 2003 Munich Q 36 46, 2001 Kitzbuhel R16 62 57 57, 1998 Espinho R32 64 26 36 and 1998 Chennai R32 61 63. Koubek's best result this year was reaching the Doha finals in doubles with Roddick, he is currently ranked 91st while Rainer is at 118th. Schuettler is seeded third behind Federer and Ferrero and ahead of Paradorn and Henman.
On the doubles side of things, Rainer is teaming up with countryman Michael Kohlmann. They face the top-seeded duo of Bhupathi/Mirnyi in their first round matchup on Tuesday in the third match on Court 1.
Before the tourney began, four players, including Rainer, played on a floating court, here's a quick blurb on that. I'll add a photo from this later today as well as from Monday's match (blue shirt alert).

- "I am going to enjoy this victory first," says Rainer in this piece from the tourney's site after Monday's win
- Rainer speaks via ATP's new audio page. He was happy to have a good win, though not very happy with his serve in the 2nd serve. He feels more fit than in Australia and that his legs are better, and he's looking forward to a good match vs Stepanek.
